SHDL SERVICES DURING RECOVERY MOVEMENT CONTROL ORDER (10 JUNE – 31 AUGUST 2020)

Dear Library Users,

In line with our Prime Minister’s announcement on 7 June 2020 pertaining to the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) until 31 August 2020, Siti Hasmah Digital Library, Multimedia University would like to inform all users of the temporary library rules as follows:

 
  1. Library Operation

    1. Main Library Cyberjaya, Melaka and Johor campus:
      We have already opened our library since 15 May 2020 (Monday to Friday from 9.00a.m. to 5.00p.m.) except public holidays and it is subject to the safety measures as stated in the SHDL post Covid-19 MCO guidelines. 

    2. Research Library and Law Library:
      We have already opened our library since 15 May 2020. (Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9.00a.m. to 5.00p.m.) except public holidays and it is subject to the safety measures as stated in the SHDL post Covid-19 MCO guidelines. 

  2. Borrowing of library materials

    Borrowing services for our physical collections are available starting on 15 May 2020. The borrowing service is only applicable to all MMU Academic staff and MMU Administrative staff. As the users are currently not allowed to browse the physical collection from the shelves, they may request the collection from our “FIND ME A BOOK” service available online via this link https://forms.gle/bx2QwTmbx5om6p2q8

    In addition to this, you may still continue to access to our online resources using our Library Proxy Services::

    Note:
    MMU students may resume borrowing the library materials once they are allowed to be on campus as per decided later by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia.

  3. Returning physical collection to the library

    Any physical collection that has been borrowed before the Movement Control Order (MCO) period shall be returned accordingly at the library as follows:

    1. MMU Academic staff and MMU Administrative staff – User shall return the loaned materials to the library starting 17 September 2020. However, any staff who wish to return loaned materials to the library before 17 September 2020 are encouraged to do so. In the event that other users would like to borrow a book that is currently on loan by a staff, the book shall need to be returned immediately to the library. In this case, the Recalls policy will be applied.

    2. MMU Student – User shall return the loaned materials to the library once they are allowed to be on campus as per decided later by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia. However in the event that other users would like to borrow a book that is currently on loan by a student, the book shall need to be returned immediately. In this case, the Recalls policy will be applied. Students may return library books at the campus main entrance using “Drop & Go” service via this link https://forms.gle/qwqLgpn9pA1REymM9 Any students who have a difficulty to return the book physically to the campus using “Drop & Go” service may post the book using courier service and any costs for courier service shall be borne by the student. Kindly email to libdesk@mmu.edu.my for further clarification.

  4. Late return fine charges

    1. Academic staff and Administrative staff:
      Any late return fine charged during the period of the Movement Control Order, Conditional Movement Control Order and Recovery Movement Control Order from 18 March 2020 to 31 August 2020 for MMU Academic staff and MMU Administrative staff will be waived. However, for overdue fines charged before the MCO period should be paid at the library counter accordingly.

      The MMU Library will give MMU Academic staff and MMU Administrative staff an extension period until 16 September 2020 to return the library materials loaned before the MCO period. Therefore, the late return fine for that particular material will be charged on 17 September 2020.

    2. MMU students:
      Any late return fine for MMU students will be waived starting from the beginning date of the Movement Control Order until the date that they shall be allowed on campus which will be decided later by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia.

  5. Intralibrary Loans between campuses and Interlibrary Loans between Libraries.

    Intralibrary Loans between campuses are available starting on 15 June 2020 but the service is only applicable to the MMU Academic staff and MMU Administrative staff.

    Interlibrary loans between libraries will be stopped temporarily until further notice. The service related to any request for supply and delivery of materials either internal request to other libraries such as public universities library / GLC universities library or external request to the MMU libraries.

    Note:
    Incoming requests from other libraries to MMU Library for the Document Delivery Services will be served as usual starting 15 May 2020. However, outgoing requests from MMU library users to other libraries for the Document Delivery Services will be subject to the policy of that library.
