The university encourages its researchers to use ORCID, Scopus (where accessible), and ResearcherID as their three author identifiers (now hosted on Publons). Author disambiguation is one of the main causes since it helps to connect research outputs to the right author. This lessens the administrative burden, enhances data accuracy, and makes research products more discoverable.
Orchid ID Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCiD) is a free, internationally recognised, non-profit registry system. It allows you to:

IntroductionA unique identifier for a research work is associated with descriptive information (metadata) that can be found by searching for the identifier. Advantages of identifiers are:
Examples: Digital Object Identifier (DOI) | International Standard Book Number (ISBN) | PubMed Unique Identifier (PMID) | Social Science Research Network ID (SSRN ID) DOI’s The DOI system is an international standard, and many publishers automatically assign DOIs when they publish their work. If you are unsure whether your work has been assigned a DOI, you can find out online using Crossref’s free DOI lookup. Use this free resource from Crossref to locate an existing DOI. |

Publication design, typesetting and ISBNs You can contact MMUPress to discuss support available for these aspects. MMUPress can also issue ISBNs, which are most useful for works which will be widely distributed in print as part of traditional publication distribution. They are generally optional for reports. You could choose to have just a DOI, or both a DOI and ISBN. |
PlumX Metric – As people interact with research they leave online footprints. Plum Analytics gathers these footprints and creates and categorizes metrics on individual pieces of research output (articles, conference proceedings, book chapters, and more). These metrics are collectively known as PlumX Metrics.
By categorizing the metrics into five categories – Usage, Captures, Mentions, Social Media, and Citations – PlumX helps make sense of a large amount of metrics data and enables analysis by comparing metrics that are compatible. The PlumX Metric can be access through Scopus at the article metric level.
